I had gotten a little tired of doing portraits the entire week, and also am a little on edge at the moment, so sketching out some old cartoon OCs is helping me out so far. Jomei's (left) full body design is at a good spot for now, but I'm wanting to change a few little details, though that'll be later on. As for Ky's full body design, I've been really needing to change his design, since many of you have informed me that his first design looked a lot like Leonardo or Leo's son. I honestly didn't want to go on with that road, so I decided to change him drastically. I really do like this design much better; gives off that "punky" side of him, even though the kid's practically a turtle full of heart.
It's funny, because while I was sketching these two, I had began to imagine them being almost identical brothers when they were humans. How it went, Jomei was almost the big brother of Ky in this little idea of mine, and lived in Tokyo, Japan when they were just human kids; having dreams of leaving to America and away from their wretched uncle. Both boys are pretty adventurous, though Jomei is always on edge whenever nothing goes his way, or when Ky doesn't want to agree or tag along with him. Once they arrive in America, Jomei soon catches information from a few older kids on the streets about joining the Foot clan in New York; which would not only feed them and shelter them, but consider all of them as "family" (this is mainly where I'm going to use the idea from the old TMNT movie, when Shredder mainly used teens and children as his ninja soldiers). With this, Jomei considers to Ky on joining the clan as long as they stay in New York, and finally gets him to agree on the idea. The longer they continued to stay, train, and work with the Shredder, the stronger, quick witted, and skilled they got in the arts of ninjutsu. Jomei and Ky became the most skilled and loyal students/young soldiers in the clan, Shredder then came up with the idea of "mocking" Splinter's own soldiers by having the two young brothers mutate into turtles; using the DNA of one of the turtles during a previous fight. Of course, Shredder did explain to the brothers that if they were to become mutants, they would become much stronger, better soldiers than before. With this, Ky was very skeptical about the idea, but with Jomei being very loyal to his master and wanted to become better, he was determined to be mutated and always be Shredder's prized soldier.
Seeing how his brother was becoming just as much of a monster as Shredder was, Ky decided to escape from the clan and his brother, and found himself face to face with the turtles. With this, he finds better care from Splinter, something that reminds him of how his own father cared for him and Jomei when they were toddlers. Understanding his story, along with how his brother is soon to become the next "Shredder" of the clan, the turtles try to help Ky out as they go face to face with the oldest brother.
If anything, I'll possibly make more of these two right after I'm done with all these portraits in mind. For now, enjoy!~♥
