My Guardian Serpent
Page #30

"They simply are too different to be siblings." said the brown dragon. I gazed up at the huge dragon in "awe", amazed by his appearance and his height, from the looks of him he was 7 times bigger than Alan!
"Whoa…" I said, accidentally once again. I should just shut myself up, before something gets out of hand.
"Bowen, wow it's great to see you!" Alan said, as he flew towards him. Bowen smiled, and half hugged Alan with his left wing. "It's great to see you too, my old student. My, how you've grown, the last time I saw you, you were such a little tot."
"Bowen, I'd like you to meet my friend Miranda. Miranda…this is Bowen." said Alan, as he nuzzled his nose to my back, and pushed me a little towards Bowen. As I gazed up at the huge dragon, I gulped so loud that Alan turned to me quickly and licked my cheek. To my surprise, he was suddenly in my thoughts once again. "You don't have to worry Miranda, he's not going to hurt you."
"That's not the bite I got to worry about, it's just that I'm afraid that he's going to explain to me that my new powers are…deadly to me."
"You won't have to worry about that either, he'll find a way to cure you, I promise. Now, show my teacher that you're brave enough to confront him."
"Got it."
"And, who might you be, little one?" said Bowen, his deep voice rumbling a little, making my hands shake a little.
I gulped. "Err…I'm Miranda, the human girl. I've come to seek you for answers." I said (as if this was harder than talking to Kings or Queens). I fiddled with my hands as they were sweating, and my knees were shaking like crazy.
"Hrmm, what kind of answers, my dear?" Well, so far this was going swell, since he was such a gentleman. I smiled a little, relieved by his calming voice.
"Well, about these things…strange things are happening to me ever since I've met Alan, and I keep on having these strange dreams lately, as if something or someone is trying to tell me something. Like giving me a sign, or a warning…as if something…or someone is after me. Can you help me?" I explained, waiting for Bowen's answer as he just kept on staring at me for a moment.
I looked up at Alan, thinking if he would give me some advice…nothing.
Finally, Bowen stood up and spread his wings as wide as an eagle. "I will tell you…but not here, there's too many witnesses out here." Suddenly, Bowen sprang into the air, flapping his wings like a bald eagle, waiting for us to come with him. Golly, how beautiful he was when he was in the air. "The four of you, follow me!" ordered Bowen, as he began to fly away. Sapphire and Salvador leaped into the air, and began to float and fly, their bodies slithering into the air like flying snakes. Yep, I guess they were Chinese dragons. As I watched them in amazement, Alan grabbed me by the shirt with his teeth, and placed me onto his scaly blue back once again, and we began to fly into the air with the rest of the dragons. I couldn't believe how thrilling this was, dragons everywhere in an island, flying through the air with no human (except me) around to hurt them in their environment. I couldn't believe that I was actually flying with the dragons, riding on Alan's back was like a dream come true, his mane and my hair flying through the wind as we past through the sky, the 3 dragons' wings flapping like eagles, soaring through the sky, as light as a feather. I gazed down at the mountains under Alan's 4 claws, sheep herds on the other side of the hills as some dragons began to attack the innocent mammals. I looked away, disgusted by the dragons tearing through their flesh, as the sheep's guts and organs flow out…oh never mind. Finally, we came to a stop, and landed on a cliff on a huge mountain. For sure, it was kind of cold, since it was the tallest mountain in the island, so I began to shiver. Alan grabbed me once again by his teeth, and settled me down onto the ground, as we followed Bowen and the others inside a cave. I wasn't much of a brave girl when it comes to dark and scary looking caves, but think of all the treasures and history there was inside just one cave! I couldn't ignore that, right?
The cave was as big as a full-sized football field, both sides with lid up candles, the temperature in here was a little warm, but since we were much too high on the atmosphere, I still felt cold. As Bowen went to another dark cave-like room, Salvador settled himself down on the ground, away from his sister, but she wasn't going to let that go. Sapphire skipped towards her brother, and nuzzled by him, his annoying emotion lighting up from his sister's company, but gave up. Alan also settled down onto the ground, leaving a space right by him for me, for he knew that I was cold as death. Suddenly, I felt his tail rap around my waist, and he placed me by his chest, and folded his wings around me to keep me warm. For some weird reason, it felt like he was simply flirting with me, but his wings were so warm and it made me comfortable that I almost slept, until Bowen came back in.
"So, explain to me what is happening to you. Dreams, visions, strangers, anything?" Bowen asked me, settling himself down onto the ground in front of us like a huge boulder.
I fiddled with my fingers and looked down, not even daring to look at him in the eye. "Well…yesterday, after I met Alan in the woods, I've been having these terrible dreams…but this happened way before I met Alan, though." I confessed, utterly terrified about what is happening to me. The others looked at each other, and then to Bowen, waiting to hear his answers about my strange dreams. Though, I really didn't want him to answer, I wanted him to hear me out since everyone else didn't believe me.
Bowen bowed his head a little, it kind of looked like he was signaling for me to go on, so I kept on going with my story.
"This started a month ago when I was in the woods with my little brother, he was trying to find the stray dogs while I was taking photos of the flowers in the meadow. Everything was going swell, that is until a dark figure appeared in the meadow, and suddenly ran behind the bushes."
"What did it look like?" asked Sapphire. For some reason, I can sense her fear approaching.
I shrugged. "I couldn't tell, the figure was quick for me to catch up to it to see what it was. Since I was responsible for my little brother, I forced him to go home as quick as possible…I really didn't want him to get hurt because of me. So once he left out of my sight, I ran back into the woods and searched for that mysterious creature. Minutes past, and it was already an hour that I was away, and soon enough…I found it." I held onto my arms as tight as I can, afraid about my thoughts, my visions, my dreams. Thinking that once I say the words, the dark creatures would come after me…I gulped.
"It looked like a dragon at first, but as I got a little closer…I couldn't tell, it was just so…she was…beautiful." I burst it all out, not knowing what to do next, since Alan and Bowen were both staring at me in confusion. Both Sapphire and Salvador were just plain scared about me going on with the story, but as they heard that last word, they sighed in relief.
"A she?" said Bowen, "Explain how this dragon was…beautiful."
"What did she look like?" asked Alan. I couldn't even believe that he was actually interested about my story, but there was something suspicious about him, I could see it in his eyes that for some odd reason…he was somehow in this situation.
"Oh, she was just…wow! Words can't compare to her beauty, she was bright as the sun, amazing golden eyes that shined like stars, wings like an angel, marks and jewels that shined of Turquoise, and her scales…gosh, the way how they sparkled in the sun…the color of White."
"Whoa-whoa-whoa! Wait a minute, you mean to tell us that you actually saw the Dragon Mother!?" said Salvador, stopping himself from a middle of his scratching time. His eyes widened, and as I looked at each dragon that was inside this cave, they all were shocked and had widened their eyes as well. This was actually kind of scaring me though, because they acted as if I cursed in dragon tongue. I was extremely clueless.
"Who's the Dragon mother?…"

Geez, no wonder why the name Bowen was familiar if you get my drift. =P (except that he wasn't Russian)
