My Guardian Serpent
Chapter 8
Page #41

"So…he's been lying to us this whole time about his parents?" said Salvador. I explained to them about what I've seen in my dreams, and they now understood everything. We all couldn't trust Alan anymore, but he was our only hope into finding my mother, and to save his parents.

"I'm afraid so…" I choked. I sat down on a boulder with Binx sitting on my shoulder.

"Gee, I wonder what other lies he told us recently! Who knows what'll happen next!" shrieked Sapphire, as she held onto her brother's arm for protection. She was scared of her best friend, and she was also confused about everything. I felt sorry for her though.

Salvador flinched from his sister's grasp, and wiggled his way out of her.

"My pupils, we must calm down and try to think of a plan on how to save the Dragon King and Queen from Cythera. Miranda, did the Dragon Mother give you directions on how to get to where Cythera is?" asked Bowen. I shrugged.

"She didn't say much, but she did say that there were spirits wandering around the in-between...do you think that's where Cythera can be?" I said.

"Theoretically." said Bowen. He tapped his tail onto the ground, thinking of a way of how to get out of this situation, I bet. We all stayed in silence, while I looked behind me to the opening of the cave to see if Alan was watching or hearing our conversation. Thankfully, he was still fast asleep.

"We do need Alan, though. I mean, without him…we would've been clueless about everything that's going on." I whispered.

"Besides, the Dragon Mother did say that she might have been wrong about him being evil." butted Binx. He finally got used to the other dragons, but was still a little freaked about Sapphire so he decided to stay real close to me. It was as if I was Peter Pan and he was Tinker Bell…awkward.

"All in all, he's still our friend…" continued Salvador, as he looked at all of us in the circle. "…and if we want to save the others from Cythera, we've got to keep Alan with us, especially you, Miranda."

I turned to him, glaring into his yellow dragon eyes as he glared into my deformed purple eyes. It looked like he wasn't going to take a chance on believing me, but I kept it away from me and looked back at Binx.

"We should all get some rest if we want to start fresh in the morning…" said Bowen. He got up from his spot, and walked to the cliff. "Miranda, stay with Alan for now, and we'll figure out what to do later on."

I nodded. "Okay." Sapphire and Salvador went towards a big boulder by the bushes and settled themselves onto the ground for the night. Sapphire laid by her brother, but he wasn't very happy about it and began to push himself away from her. Bowen laid down by the cliff, as his head was laid onto a rock and his wings covered his body. The moon was almost full, and it's light showed us the way in this miserable darkness.

I was about to put my hand in my pajama pocket, until suddenly I felt something hard and heavy in it. I grabbed the object, and stared at it in amazement; my phone. I was so happy to see something that I actually knew my whole teenage life! I pressed the middle button on my phone, and the time came up; 5 minutes till 9. Only 4 more hours until my first transformation, but I wasn't very excited about it, nor will I ever be. All I wanted was my mother, and a chance to have my old normal life back just the way it was. When we all woke up in a Saturday morning, as me and my parents drink a morning coffee while the kids played around in the backyard. My parents giggle and tease each other as they tell their silly 70's jokes, while I put down my coffee mug and play around with my dog Balto. I wanted all of that to go back to normal, but it wasn't simple like wishing it on a star. I sighed.

"Let's go to sleep." I said to Binx. He stretched out his arms, and yawned very lightly.

I walked towards the mouth of the cave, and got Binx and placed him on a rock. "What are you going to do?" he whispered. I grabbed my phone, and looked at it for a moment.

"I'm going to see if I can contact my parents, don't worry I'll come back."

"But, Telgarra said…"

"But nothing, Binx…this is urgent." I interrupted. I leaned forward and gave him a little kiss on his head, and walked towards the other side of the cliff.

I stood there in the opening and looked around in the sky to see if there were anyone or anything watching me. Nothing. I looked at my phone, and checked the bars; only 3 bars. That was okay with me. I speed dialed my mother's phone, and waited until it began to ring.

"C'mon mom…please answer." Seconds past by, as the rings kept on going, and finally I hear mom's voicemail. I placed my face in my hand, and pressed the red button to hang up. I had only one shot, and only 2 bars left. I dialed my father's number on my phone, and placed it by my ear. It began to ring, and I prayed in my head for him to answer me.

Six rings past by, and suddenly I hear a click on the other line. "Hello?" said a deep man voice. It was my father.

"Dad!" I choked. I tried not to cry, but my voice sounded off the line, and my dad began to feel worried.

"What's wrong, Miranda? Where's your mother, I've been trying to call her but she won't answer?" he said. I sniffed, and breathed in hard. I pushed back my bangs, and began to sob.

"She's gone, dad…" I whispered.

"Gone where? Are you okay?…" he asked softly. I couldn't go on, I couldn't talk to him. I was afraid of what he'll say if I told him that I couldn't find her because she was kidnapped. If I did, he would go all bipolar and call off his family reunion and come down here. I didn't want him to do that, I wanted to do this myself.

"Miranda?…are you there?" he asked. Suddenly, I took the phone away from my ear and immediately hung up on him. I turned over my phone, and took out the battery from the inside, and placed both objects in my pocket. I looked down at the sea, and began to cry. I've never broke down like this before, but this was a bad situation that I was in, and I couldn't take it no more. I wanted to be captured already, I wanted to reveal myself to the world so that I can be with my mother once again. I didn't care anymore, all I wanted was my mother.

Suddenly, I felt a nudge on my back and quickly turned to see a dark scaly face. Alan stood there in the dark, as the moon shined on his dark blue scales. His mane blew in the summer night wind, and his chest moved in and out from his soft breathing. His beautiful lying eyes stared into me, and he tried to make a little smile.

"Come on…" he whispered, as he brought me off of the ground with his head, and pushed me softly towards the cave.

Alan settled himself onto the ground, as I dropped myself onto my knees by him. We stayed in silence as we faced the darkness of the cave, and I heard him sigh.

"How much did you hear?…" I asked in a whisper. I knew that he had heard our conversation earlier ago, he heard my cries by the cliff as I tried to contact my parents, and he knew what I was thinking. We were now connected, and I wanted to ask him so many questions one at a time.

"All of it…" he replied. He laid his head on the ground, and stared up at me. I looked at him with such anger inside me, but anxiety with it as well. I felt terrible, but then again I felt like choking Alan for lying to me about his parents. Who knows what other lies he told me about himself!

"How could you lie to me about your parents?" I asked. He gulped, and looked away.

"You wouldn't understand…"

"What wouldn't I understand!? That the fact that the reason why both our parents are being hostage is because of me?! Is that what it is?" my voice grew louder, and I heard some of my echoes in the cave. He brought up his head, and turned to me.

"I don't blame you! And you shouldn't blame yourself!"

"So, what other lies have you told me, huh? Are you really a Dragon Prince? Are you really 15 years old? Did you really mean everything about what you said to me yesterday night?!" I blurted out. He growled under his breath.

"All those things are true, and yes I did meant everything about what I said to you that night! But you wouldn't understand on what I'm going through right now…"

"Well if you tell me, I would understand!"

"It's not that simple, Miranda…"

"Alan, what's stopping you from not telling me about why you're lying to me!?"

"Everything!" shouted Alan, as the cave began to echo by his rage. "My parents have been hostages for 3 years, way longer than your mother!"

I stared at him in fear, and sat down on my butt. He laid himself back down, and turned to the other side.

"Just leave it, Miranda…" he whispered. I felt sorry for him, I didn't mean to make him feel guilty, all I wanted was for him to tell me the truth. I lowered my gaze, and slowly crawled towards his face. I flipped my bang to get a good look at him, and cradled his face in my hands.

"I'll let it slide for tonight…" I whispered. He smiled, and then closed his eyes as I began to pet his scaly face. He began to purr, and I lowered my head onto his forehead, placing a nice soft kiss on his left eye.
Not much to say on this but I'm still sick
So enjoy and hope you like it!
